Friday was a good day...
Friday I had the opportunity to return to Howell and see so many of you! It was wonderful! I really miss you guys. I know there are so many people in this world and many of you are still so young that you are going to forget all about me, and I am okay with that, but you have all made a lasting impression on my heart and are much more than just students to me. Many of you have also become my friends. I know that not all teachers feel that becoming friends with your students is okay, but I think we have set some pretty good boundaries (remember, no Cathy yet Matt), that it works. So, I just wanted to say that I miss you all terribly and remember that I will continue this blog for as long as there are still those of you who write on it with me.

I know it meant a lot to my mom to see you that day. I wish I could have come home the weekend :(
On a different topic, my Aunt lives in Indianapolis and she sent me this link to a story about an english teacher who tried to teach Freedom Writers and now might get fired because of it. I think the teacher may have gone to the same conference as you, so I wondered if you knew her. The article they ran in the paper in Indiana actually mentioned Howell as another place where there has been a similar conflict. I was pretty sad to see this whole ordeal beginning to repeat itself in another district.
'Freedom Writers' book could cost Perry Twp. teacher her job

I wish I was able to see you this friday... :(
I know that you have had a lasting impression on me and that I know I could never forget you. People find it weird taht I still keep in contact with my high school teachers, but to me you were never just a teacher, but a friend also and someone I looked up to and still do!
As long as you continue this blog, I will be here reading and responding! Miss you tons!!
Oh, so you can make time to visit howell, but Mt. Pleasant is too far away? Wow. Thanks. I see how it is.
P.S. did you hear about the meeting tonight discussing the schools? (Howell, Parker, Freshman Campus)? what's your take?
Well it's either Capy or Cathy. You take your pick.
Friday was great. It was great to see you and Jane Elliot was super good. It was a really good and powerful and well delivered message. She was really cool to talk to afterwards too. You need to post that picture somewhere. I want it!
I posted it on facebook...can't you find it there? Tell me how to get it to you, Matt.
Maura, I can't get to that article. I guess it's too old. I will post on my FWT site and see who it is. I didn't attend with the teacher from Indianapolis, but I know a lot of the teachers through our google group.
And, yes, Jane Elliot's message was powerful. I really liked her no-nonsense approach. I am so sick of always tip-toeing around so that stupid bigots can feel better about themselves.
Found it. Thanks!
I wish I could have seen you on friday =/ my family and I were in Chicago for a dance convention. It was fun, but not nearly as fun as seeing Jane Elliot would have been =/
:( I missed you too! When will we have the chance to see each other again? When are your vacations, guys? And, Katie, when will you be coming here again?
Something needs to be done about leadership taking over Student Council. (Off topic but important)
